Expo 2020 Dubai is the latest international show organised in Dubai (UAE), overseen by Paris-based “Bureau International des Expositions”, an intergovernmental organisation created in 1928. Through the motto “Connecting minds, creating the future”, Expo 2020 Dubai aims to showcase the greatest of human brilliance and achievement, displaying 192 Country Pavilions. Visitors are invited to explore the world’s many livelihoods, innovation and technologies, entertainments and enlightening conversations.
Being the World Expo’s Official Timing Provider and present at the exhibition, Swatch is delivering an innovative concept named “The world’s most inclusive art project”.
The “Swatch X You” concept

To deliver this ambitious idea called “Swatch X You”, Swatch has invited people from the participating nations to create an original artwork representing their country. It’s also a great opportunity to have their creation converted into a special limited edition watch available to the public.
Through the competition process, Swatch has received a variety of designs from artists around the world. The 80 original artworks chosen by the jury to represent their countries feature historical landmarks, fun facts or visual elements.

Displayed on the Swatch website: » swatch.com where you can create your own Chromatic Swatch, Carlos Almenar’s unique creation “Colours of Venezuela” showcases colours and rhythm. It aims to symbolise the chromatic and dynamic identity of his birth country, allowing the observer to be transported to an imaginary universe.
When I think of my birth country, what comes to mind is its chromatic national identity and the dynamism of its people. I wanted to present a contemporary visual rhythm related to the chromatic approach of Venezuela.
